About this event
What is PLAYBACK
Media Cymru's Festival of Innovation taking place on wednesday 16 & Thursday 17 September 2026, Tramshed and Tramshed Tech, Cardiff.

What to bring
There is no need to bring anything special - just yourself! But, if useful, you might want to bring something to take notes if you’d like to jot down ideas, contacts or inspiration, business cards for networking, and anything you need to help you regulate or feel comfortable.

What to wear
There isn’t a dress code at PLAYBACK. Whether you feel most comfortable in a suit, jeans and trainers, bright colours or all black, you’ll fit right in. We simply recommend comfortable shoes and dressing for the (unpredictable!) Welsh weather, as you may be moving between venues during the day.

What to expect
PLAYBACK is designed to be welcoming, inspiring, and relaxed. Across the two days, you’ll be able to enjoy talks, workshops, demonstrations, and networking opportunities at your own pace. You’re welcome to take breaks, step out of sessions, or use the quiet space whenever you need to - there’s no “right way” to experience this event!

Planning your route
PLAYBACK takes place across several venues in Cardiff city centre, all within walking distance of one another. Whether you’re travelling by train, bus, car, bicycle, or on foot, we’ve put together detailed information on getting to the event, parking, accessible transport, and moving between venues to help you plan your journey.

Signing
in
Enter through the main doors at Tramshed, where you’ll find our reception desk and a friendly team ready to welcome you. Simply give your name to sign in, and you’ll receive event information for the day. Registration opens at 9.30am. If you have any questions or need a hand getting your bearings, please don’t hesitate to ask - we’re here to help.
Parking Directions
We don’t have onsite parking, but there is limited street parking directly outside (council-operated, pay and display). Cardiff Central Quay Station Car Park (APCOA) or John Lewis Car Park, both approximately a 10–15 minute walk from the venue.
There is a drop-off/pick-up point directly outside the main entrance.
Food and
Drink
Food and drink will be available throughout the day from the café/Waiting Room, located at the front of Tramshed, as well as from a selection of food trucks in the courtyard. Please note that Tramshed is a cashless venue, so payments can be made by card or contactless only.
If you'd prefer to eat elsewhere, Cardiff city centre is just a 5–10 minute walk away and offers a wide range of cafés, restaurants and shops to suit a variety of tastes and dietary requirements.
Food and
Drink
Drinks will be available throughout the day from a drinks station located by the Main Stage and a mobile barista near the Waiting Room.
There will also be a selection of food trucks in the courtyard: Bao Selecta and Pickled Pumpkin (Gyros). Speakers, contributors, and partners of Media Cymru will receive priority for the complimentary lunch. We'll do our best to offer lunch to everyone on both days, but please note it's available on a first-come, first-served basis - so do arrive in good time if you'd like to be sure of a spot.

We won't have food available on-site during PLAYBACK After-Hours, but there are plenty of great options locally. We recommend Merola's, Neighbourhood Bar & Kitchen, The Grange Pub, Matsudai Ramen, or Zamaa Restaurant - all of which are conveniently located along the walking route from Tramshed, and are ideal for grabbing a bite before the evening programme begins.
This event will be filmed and photographed. If you do NOT want to be filmed or photographed, please make yourself known to staff during registration.
